Purple Rain

Hey guys. Had a lot of fun doing this tune. I made some changes to the tab to suit how I would play the song unlike most videos on this page. In the intro, Wendy is playing an Fadd9.

I choose to play an F chord because I can’t physically stretch my pinky that far in the first position. Fingers aren’t long and skinny enough. Props to those who can pull it off because that’s a tough one.

I chose a standard strumming pattern for the rhythm parts. Because I realize that there are those looking to memorize how to play the song so I wanted to make it playable.

For the distorted prince parts, its hard to make out what he is playing. His tone is distorted and fuzzy, and low in the mix, it played with my head when trying to get it all in there.

So I took some liberties. I got all the licks in there. Just with all the sliding and string muting, it’s hard to get all that in there. I tabbed out a saxophone part. I decided to tab out the outro vocal melody.

All in an effort to make the song enjoyable to play. Hope you enjoy the video!
