I’m super excited to share my new tab video for the Appetite version of ‘You’re Crazy’. Just one more song left to cover, and we’ll have a full Appetite playlist. In the studio recording, there are some subtle bends, so I added them before the first measure, along with the G5 and G#5 chords. But if you prefer to keep it simple, sticking to just the power chords works too! For this tab, I used an isolated track to capture Slash’s rhythm and lead parts. I’m not trying to overshadow Izzy’s rhythms — I think they’re just as crucial — but some of Slash’s parts get a little buried in the mix, so I wanted to bring them out more. One of the trickiest things here is the swing feel Slash gives to his rhythms, especially at such a fast tempo. After I recorded my version, I listened back to the studio recording again, and gained a whole new appreciation for how intricate his playing is on this one. In measure 69, I went with a bend on the 10th fret of the A string, though he could have just as easily done it on the 5th fret of the D string. When playing live, he usually just sticks to power chords (E5 and G5) there, but in the studio version, you can clearly hear the single notes — so I went with that in my take. Once I wrap up the last song from Appetite, I’m thinking about diving into Izzy’s parts — maybe we’ll share them on Patreon! As a die-hard GNR fan, I totally respect Izzy’s contributions, even though this page leans more toward lead guitar. For now, I’ve been focusing on Slash’s parts, but I’d love to highlight Izzy’s work too. Hope you enjoy the video!
