It’s been five years since I posted my first take on this. A lot has changed since then, and I’m excited to share this new and improved version. I picked up a Fernandez to dive back into some Randy classics, and it does not disappoint! Taking some inspiration from Randy’s live performances, I added some extra guitar work to the intro to make it a little more fun to play along with. A few notes on the tab: – The rhythm is double tracked and the solo is triple tracked to get as close to that studio sound as possible. – In measure 24, I opted for an E5 chord instead of the basic open E because I felt it better matched what I hear in the studio version. – In measures 25 and 26, I’m hearing the extra high E string on those triads from the isolated tracks, which adds a nice touch. – And a quick tip for measure 46: be sure to aim your fingers directly over the fret for a solid harmonic! – There is a solid outro instead of the original fade out. Trying to get this one super accurate is actually quite a challenge given all of the layered guitars in the studio version. I used my best judgment to make it enjoyable for you all. Randy’s unique sound is something very special, and I hope it did it justice here. Thanks for playing along this five years!
